Morning Star Bamboo Flooring is one of the best bamboo floors on the market today. It is produced from old growth bamboo reeds that are at least 4 years old, thereby increasing hardness. Morning Star Bamboo Flooring creates a naturally beautiful and ecologically friendly product that evokes a feeling of luxury.

Quick Highlights:
- Real Bamboo
- Eco-Friendly
- Easy Floating "Click-Together" installation
- Backed by a 30 Year Warranty

Carbonized
Steamed bamboo, caramelizing the sugar within to change its color.

Strand
Twice as hard as oak, strand bamboo is an optimal choice for busy homes when durability is needed to stand up to the wear and tear of family foot traffic, active kids and even pets.

To make strand bamboo, shredded bamboo fibers are compressed under extreme heat and pressure.  This manufacturing process yields flooring that is even harder and more dense than traditional bamboo floors. Available in a variety of colors to complement and décor, all Morning Star strand bamboo products are finished with premium coating and backed by a 30 year warranty.

And, since bamboo is a naturally sustainable grass that re-grows spontaneously after harvest, you can feel good about making an environmentally friendly flooring decision.

It's simple...
Eco-Friendly. Beautiful look. Beautiful price.

While the install looks great, there are some dips in the floor as no efforts were made to get it level. The install crew worked fast and completed the project ahead of schedule. They also helped us resolve some air pockets in the baseboard area before the flooring was installed. We were concerned about the color variations in the Carb Strand Bamboo as our sample was darker than we would have liked--very happy with the end result as it is the color that we wanted.

        Service and delivery comments:

Delivery was made on time and by a very diligent employee--our floor pieces/parts weighed 2,500 pounds so he worked hard! Measure/appraisal was also done within one week of request.

Be sure to wear gloves, I got a painful splinter in one finger when I forgot to get my gloves on. The splinters are on the rough backside and aren't a problem once the flooring is installed.

The guys at the Bowling Green store were very knowledgeable and helpful. Thanks!!

Our installers had never installed a glue down before and are surprised at how easy it is. This is very hard wood and dulls the saw blades quickly. Glue is very expensive so work quickly and keep it covered! The Bostik solvent sold to clean the floor after installation is very good and cleans off the glue quickly. Our dogs had a respiratory reaction to it however so we had to mop up after using it!

                        • A Floor

The floor is great to walk on with socks, of course you should always walk with caution as you would with any new floor. Every package came without issues, marks, scratches. The boxes were slightly torn, but I think that was from the delivery guys, and ultimately it proved to have no damage.

Not sure what you're looking for, or what your house looks like, but I'll say that this looks fantastic in my house. I wanted to go really dark for my flooring, but I knew that I'd have to sweep daily, something I wasn't interested in doing. I bought this house with home depot engineered wood laminate flooring that was cheap and light in color, so I settled for the middle of the road brown. The brown with the strength of the bamboo flooring made it a no brainer.

When it came down to the choosing between the click and the nail down planks, I choose click so it would disguise the slight dips and valleys in my sub flooring. I also have three types of sub flooring (Plywood, Existing hardwood & Sealed Concrete) and the EX3 Pro Adhesive was the perfect solution. I also heard the horror stories of hardness of this wood makes the nail down difficult. I also wasn't interested in seeing four nail holes where the flooring plank butts up to another plank, or filling in those holes with any sort of putty. The final product looks seamless.

I tip I want to pass along whether you're installing or you've hired a contractor. At the end of each day, go through with pot of boiling water and clean any excess glue before it hardens. Maybe do this as you go to make it a little easier, just keep the water warm/hot. Some people recommend using stripping agents....ehhh I'm not sure a stripping agent is good to apply to newly finished floors. The other recommend using a razor blade or scraper, and I don't think I need to say why I don't recommend that.

People mention scratches on this thread. Listen, it's a brand new floor, and although it's bamboo, it's still soft on the grand scale of things. It's the test of time that will provide thousands of scratches that'll happen over time that will hide that "first scratch".

Once you get the first line installed the rest goes quickly. use the sample piece to tap boards together for tight joints. Wear gloves once you cut a piece the rough edge will leave splinters in your hand. No problem with splinters once installed just when handling. each box weighs about 40 pounds my order was 18 boxes room 23x14 not much waste still have 8 whole boards. Picked up order from Riverhead store salespeople very helpful even load the boxes into your vehicle.

                                          • Hallway

We replaced carpet in three bedrooms and a hallway that lead to carpeted stairs (we kept the stairs carpet for now).

The flooring itself went down easily. The click installation made it a breeze. We could lay a board faster than it took to cut it to size.

The biggest problem with installing the floor, was not the flooring itself, but our house. The sub-floor was not level, so most of the time was spent removing carpeting and leveling the sub-floor.

Once all the prep work was done, laying the floor went quickly. A total of 600 sq ft was laid. 2 Rooms and the hallway were completing with 2 people and the third bedroom by 1 person.

Total time to install the flooring was about 10 hours. Total project time was about 40 hours.

The overall look of the flooring is amazing with the rich brown color that looks different in different lights.

                                          Service and delivery comments:

We ordered the flooring on a Sunday and it was at the store by Wednesday. We asked our store for a quiet pickup time (early morning for our store) and we had to take two trips because it was too much weight for our SUV.

One box was torn and the top board was damaged but they just grabbed another box for us, so just keep an eye out for it.

They loaded up the SUV for my wife so I didn't have to worry about being there to receive the shipment, just taking it to the second story of our house.

We have solid bamboo flooring from Lumber Liquidators installed. We recall being advised to avoid a particular type of rug backing and no longer remember whether it was latex or rubber or something else. Does anyone have the answer?

When using area rugs, use a rug pad with a felt, plant or PVC based backing. DO NOT use area rugs with a petroleum based rubber backing (typically black) as this can cause permanent chemical staining/etching of the floor finish.

We need to take some bamboo flooring (10023754) to another location for installation. It needs to be stored at the new location for about 6 weeks before it can be installed. There is a lot of other work going on in the house so it is not practical to store it in the area where it will be installed. Can the flooring be stored in a garage (the garage is enclosed on all sides, but one sides has many openings in the brick)? The garage is not humidity or temperature controlled.

                                              A:

                                              Thank you for writing in.
All wood products are affected by environmental conditions, especially prefinished materials.
To control wood movement- expansion or shrinkage- it is recommended to acclimate the new flooring in the areas to be installed, not in (garages, U-Haul trailers, sheds, or tents) to normal lived-in conditions while in the boxes. If the products are protected in plastic then open the ends of the boxes. Length of time is not the determining factor. The goal of acclimation is for the core of the product to reach an equilibrium or moisture balance of the new flooring with its surroundings before installation or fastening. This balance could be achieved in as little as 1 to 5 days, or longer for some dense or oily exotic species.

                                              Avoid shocking the floor.
Just like you, wood actually performs best with consistent indoor temperatures of 60°-80° F and indoor humidity levels of 30% - 50%. Very dry or humid regions of the country usually require extended conditioning. Maintaining the recommended acclimation levels even after the installation should be viewed as ongoing floor care. Your doing so will help to minimize board movement, excessive squeaks, finish cracking and gaps.

Hygrometers sold in most Target and Wal-Mart stores ($10-$45) can be used to easily identify the need to regulate the humidity or air moisture.
In addition, to prevent board warping or bowing, do not cut the plastic support bindings on the outside of the packaging until ready to install. Store products flat, in a dry place. Provide air flow under and around cartons. Do not store directly on bare concrete or next to outside walls. Cartons should be placed as close to the center of the installation area as possible.

Proper jobsite conditions, acclimation and moisture testing of the subfloor along with the new flooring all works together for the success of the installation and is the responsibility of those overseeing the project.

In half baths okay however in full baths bamboo is not recommended. Bamboo and Wood flooring can be installed through out the home, but there are concerns about installation in bathrooms. Bathrooms are areas of high moisture. With full baths there are concerns with water spills, high humidity due to steamy showers, and toilet over flows. Elevated moisture in a full bath can create finish issues, board warping, and buckling. When installing in these areas extreme caution is advised and it is recommended to choose wood flooring with high stability. Make sure you have good air flow and use mats to absorb moisture when coming out of the tube or shower. Many floors will not be warranted in a bathroom application. An alternative would be our Tranquility vinyl Click flooring. The Tranquility vinyl click flooring looks like real wood, but will not be affected by moisture like wood floors.
